Emergency Information 

If you need minor medical attention in Schinoussa, there is a medical office open to the public. It is located in the village, as you exit the main village on the way to Messara on the right-hand side.

If you need a pharmacy or medication, you will have to order it from the supermarket on the main street, just underneath “Okto Adelfia Restaurant”. They place an order with a pharmacy in Naxos, and the medication will arrive the next day around 5 PM with Skopelitis.

Room Info

  • Please note All rooms are non-smoking and smoking is only permitted in the outside areas.
  • Checkout is at 10:00 am.
  • Room cleaning is available between 08:00-15:00 everyday. Please be sure to use your make room up/do not disturb sign on your door.
  • The electricity is operated using the white card on the room key. Place it in the holder next to the door to turn on the electricity in the room
  • The air conditioning only works when all doors and windows are closed.
  • The WiFi name and password is on the wifi adpater in the room. It is located behind the lounge TV.
  • The turquiose towels are for the beach.
  • The white towels are for the shower.
  • Our rooms telephone number is +30 21 1234 3770. It is also located at the bottom of the website on every page.
  • The rooms reception is in the Chora by the Plateia

Safe Usage instructions

While the Safe is open, press digits for the code you want to use, the safe will close and lock. To open the safe, put in the code again and it will open.

Transport 

The island is small, so everything is within walking distance. It is the avid walker’s dream destination. However, there are two rental places if you choose to rent a motorbike or an ATV:

Alternatively, there is a taxi on the island: +30 697 321 5518.

If you require boat tickets or need to reschedule them, you can go to Paralos Travel located on the main street in Chora, between Eirini mini market and the bakery.

Petrol Station – Elin – If you need to refill your rental you can go to the petrol station located between the Chora and the Messaria.

Beaches
There are so many to pick from! Our small island is blessed with 15 beaches. Please note that most beaches (unless specified) don’t have water, snacks, or shade. Be sure to bring enough water and snacks to enjoy on the beach.

  • TSIGOURI: The most popular and one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. It is a sandy, 350m long beach with many trees along the shore (ideal for families). 200m from the shore, there is a small islet where you can go swimming or with a canoe and sunbathe alone in this paradise islet!
  • THOLARI: A small and quiet sandy beach, only a 10-minute walk from Livadi.
  • LIVADI: Located 1km from the village, it has golden sand and big trees along the beach. There are some houses in the area and a cafe-restaurant.
  • ALIGARIA 2 OR GAGAVI: A small beach (approximately 30m long), surrounded by caves. It is situated 2.2 km from Chora, eighteen minutes by foot. It is accessible via a 60m path and has no tree-shade.
  • ALIGARIA 3 OR KAMBOS: A small beach (approximately 40m long), a mixture of sand and rocks, just 2.6 km from Chora, twenty minutes by foot via a dirt track road. Its underwater is ideal for fishing.
  • LIOLIOU: A beautiful sandy beach on the north side of the island. There is a cafe-restaurant nearby. Located 2.7 km from Chora, thirty minutes by foot.
  • BAZAIOU: Rocky coast with small beaches along it. It is the natural continuation of Lioliou beach, separated by a rocky shore (approximately 80m long). The beach is 2.8 km from Chora, approximately thirty-five minutes by foot and does not provide tree-shade.
  • ALMIROS: A very beautiful northern sandy beach with shallow waters and trees with shade. Ideal for families and little children. Anatoli Restaurant is a few meters away.
  • FOUDANA: A relatively small sandy beach (approximately 40m long) with a rocky shore, located 1.5 km from the capital, twelve minutes by foot. The road is a dirt track. The beach has no trees or amenities of any kind.
  • PSILI AMMOS: A popular beach where the sand stretches from the beach to the top of the hill. It is 2km from the village and 200m from Messaria village. It has crystal clear waters. There is a very nice family tavern nearby.
  • FIKIO: A small beach with seaweed and turquoise waters.
  • GEROLIMIONAS: A quiet, small, and very beautiful sandy beach located in a large bay. It has a very nice seabed ideal for exploring and snorkeling. Cars do not go all the way to the beach; there is a bit of rocky terrain you need to walk on foot, but it’s worth the effort.
  • PISSO AMMOS / Mersini: A sandy beach with trees near the port. It is frequented by those who moor their yachts in the port.

Food and Drinks

The island has a large selection of restaurants:

Port

  • NICHOLAS OF SCHINOUSSA: Located by the port “Mersini”, it is a fancy seafood restaurant that’s been around for ages.

In the Chora/Main Village

  • OKTO ADELPHIA: This restaurant is owned by a family with 8 children. The family has livestock and small farms on the island. Most things used in their kitchen come from their farm. The dishes are traditional dishes from Schinoussa.
  • DELI: Greek dishes with a modern twist. Deli also has a nice bar if you just want a drink. The sunsets from their balcony compete with Santorini’s. It’s also open in the morning for takeaway coffees and pre-made sandwiches. Open late at night for some drinks.
  • HARA: Opens early in the morning for breakfast. In the evening, it serves desserts and drinks.
  • MELTEMI: Traditional Greek Taverna, family-run. They have grilled meat and seafood, along with other traditional meals.
  • AGNADEMA: Family-style traditional Greek restaurant located just outside the main village providing breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  • LOZA: CURRENTLY CLOSED – Pizza restaurant that is also open for breakfast and has a selection of Greek homemade desserts. It has a great view of the island from the balcony.
  • MAROUSAS GRILL: Traditional Greek meat restaurant that serves a variety of meat dishes including Souvlakia.
  • KIRA POTHITI: Greek dishes with a twist. Seafood and traditional Greek food served in a more formal dinner setting.
  • BIZELI: Traditional grill restaurant offering grilled meat and seafood. Located in a traditional alleyway right next to Kira Pothiti.
  • KAFE STOU PERI: A cute little café serving breakfast in the morning and coffees and drinks throughout the rest of the day until late at night.
  • TO KENTRO: Traditional little drinks place, opens late at night and occasionally has traditional live music and dance till late.
  • ZEFUROS: Traditional Greek meat restaurant located in the center of the village in the main square. Great for people watching.
  • VEGGERA: A great coffee shop with light meals, lots of ice creams and snacks perfect for breakfast, before the beach or after.
  • STAVLOS: A coffee shop and bar that over looks Tsigouri and Livadi Beach. great to get a coffee on your way down to Tsigouri Beach.

Messaria Village

  • HARAMA: Serving breakfast, lunch, and supper. Located just outside Messaria village.
  • TO PETRINO: Traditional Greek grill restaurant made of stone, located in the small village of Messaria.

Tsigouri Beach

  • CAPTAIN COOK: Located above Tsigouri Beach inside Grispos Villas hotel. Serves a selection of local dishes.
  • TSIGOURI BEACH BAR: Located on Tsigouri beach, This beach bar has everything you could want! great music, great drinks and a snack for all day long beaching!

On the way to Almiro Beach

  • VRACHOS BAR AND RESTAURANT: – This has always been a nightclub on the island, well known for its late-night parties, especially on Saturday nights. Last year they added a restaurant offering a variety of dishes.
  • ANATOLI RESTAURANT: Located a short distance from Almiro Beach. Great for lunch and sometimes they have a bit of traditional music in the evenings.

Lioliou Beach

  • STIS AKATHIS: – Located on Lioliou beach, serving seafood and Mediterranean dishes.

Livadi Beach

  • LIVADI CAFE AND BAR: – A beautiful little restaurant run by a mother and two daughters. It is located right on Livadi beach, making it great for a lunch break when visiting the beach. It is also open for dinner but closes relatively early.

Activities

Kayak Tour – The kayak tour runs from livadi beach and is a really nice way to get exercise and see the Schinoussa from the sea. They have 2 person kayaks and single person kayak guided tours. As long as the weather is good they are operating.

Fragosiko (prickly pear) – A cute little bohemian clothing store with loads of cute options to remember your trip to Schinoussa.

Anesi Souvenirs – Located near Kyra Pothiti restaurant. The shop has souvenirs, jewellry, and clothing with designs for all ages. It also has lots of beach equipment like rackets, backgammon, swimming masks, etc. If you forgot anything and need something for the beach here in Schinoussa its definitely worth checking them out. 

Artion souvenirs and books – A great souvenirs and book shop next to Paralos Travel. Find a great book for reading and relaxing on Tsigouri beach or a souvenir to remember your trip to Schinoussa.

Botsalo – Homemade Schinoussa – Souvenirs and Jewellery made by a local lady.

The ouzeri – A boutique with clothing that is great and many options for all tastes. Take a piece of Schinoussa fashion back with you!
